January 30, 2012
Dear Parents,
January seemed to just whiz by! The month has been filled with academic projects, science experiments, basketball games, and fun lunch activities. There is never a dull moment on the Taylor campus!
As we head into February there are a few items to take note. If you received a progress report in the mail, you child is currently earning a C- or lower. It is your child’s responsibility to talk with their teacher, check homework and makeup tests to improve grades. Most teachers are available before or after school to help students. In addition, the Homework Center is open: Tuesday – Friday mornings 7:15- 8:15 am and Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3:10- 4:10. The Homework Center meets in the library and is staffed by Taylor teachers. Students need to sign in and work the entire time.
This week: The 8th graders will have vision and hearing screenings Monday and Tuesday during PE classes.
Several band and orchestra members will be performing at the four elementary schools this Friday morning.
For parents: The Taylor Site Council meeting is this Thursday in the Office Conference room at 3:15. Agenda is posted on the website.
On Friday, February 3rd, Superintendent Luna will join us at the Principal Coffee in the library from 8:30-10:00am. Ms. Luna will discuss the current school budget and the state of Millbrae schools. As with all our Principal Coffees, this is an informal time to ask questions and participate in discussion. All are invited to attend.
The surrounding public high schools are offering another shadow day for 8th graders only on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Please contact your local public high school for further information.
The Taylor PTA fundraiser, The French Quarter will be the Millbrae party of the year! This year’s event is at the Millbrae Park and Rec. Center on Saturday, February 25 from 6- 10 pm. Many Taylor staff plan to attend. Great prizes and raffle items will be available including some special teacher gifts. So…… get ready to wear that mask, throw on a few Mardi Gras beads and be sure to secure your reservation.
